On January 22nd, middle school students were invited to watch an Atlantic Universities hockey game between home team University of Moncton and St. FX. Elsipogtog First Nation is represented by Robbie Graham for the Blue Eagles and Trey Lewis for the X-Men. Our students received a tour of the training facility, dressing room as well as participate in on ice activities, not to mention enjoying an entertaining hockey game. Wednesday, January 27th is Family Literacy Day. On that day, we want to encourage parents to take the time to participate in a family Literacy activity for at least 15 minutes.Canada encourages families to have “15 Minutes of Fun” learning together every day. Engaging in literacy activities as a family improves a child’s skills and also helps adults keep their skills sharp.Students will be taking home a ballot to fill out for a chance to win one of 5 Chapter’s Gift Certificates, valued at $20. Ballots must be returned on or before Friday, January 29th.
On Friday,December 11th ,Grade 2 A had a celebration of their writing.The students shared their stories about how they decorate their trees at Christmas.The children are very proud of their work as is Ms.Sock and Mrs.Redmond.
On the evening of Wednesday,November 18th ,Elsipogtog School hosted its annual Literacy Night.The theme was Roll Out the Red Carpet to Reading .Approximately 120 students and parents attended the event, that featured 12 different stories ,read by staff members.Hot Chocolate and popcorn were enjoyed by all ,during the final story of the night. Several prizes of books were drawn for throughout the night.The winner of the Grand Prize Family Literacy basket was Nathan Levy.
