I just finished up 2 digit multiplication with the grade 5 students.  I will be working on division this week.  Multiplication and division will be continually assigned for homework though out the year.  This is an important step to prepare students for middle school.

Starting this week, students will be expected to take home a book and keep a reading log of how much they read each night. Overall students are not reading enough and need more practice.  This will be part of their assigned homework every week, no exceptions.

Due to the low success rate of the last test, and students not studying for it, I will be giving a rewrite on October 17, 2013.  Make sure you prepare for the test and study!!

Look for homework agenda's to know what your child has to complete for the following day. Please sign the agenda so that I know you are aware of their assigned homework.

Homework will begin next week.  Each day student will fill out their homework agendas and have them brought home with their homework.  They will be expected to have their homework completed, with their agendas signed, so that way I know that you are aware of what your child is doing.  Math homework students will be predominately working on basics, while language arts homework will be predominately on spelling and grammer.  I will try not to give homework on the week ends; however, they will be expect to complete tasks that are not done in the classroom.  If there are any concerns about your childs work load, please let me know. Thank You

I would like to invite all parents to the Meet the Teachers Day.  Your child is very important to us.  In order to better understand your childs needs, we would like to get to know you and introduce ourselves to you.  As a team it is very important for us to have an open communication relationship so that your child succeeds at school.  I hope to see all of you at this meeting. If you cannot come to this meeting but still want to meet with me, feel free to contact me at the school.  I will be glad to arrange a meeting time.

With a new year about to begin, there are some exciting new changes.  One of those changes is my movement from teaching middle school math to teaching grade 5.  I am really excited to meet the new challenges of teaching a variety of subjects to a group of excellent grade 5 students.   At any time, if you have any questions, come visit me at the school.  I will be glad to talk to you about your childs needs. Grade 5Mr. Babineau
